Meeting notes for 2008-10-21

Discussion of remaining goals and roadmap

Present: Gareth de Walters, Tommy Yu, Catherine Lloyd, James Lawson, Dougal Cowan

We have approximately 4 months until the CellML workshop. Some of us will be away for substantial chunks of that duration.

Tommy is away during December and January, although he will be working sporadically, and James is away for December. He hopes to have an alpha version of PMR2 ready by the time he leaves at the end of November

Remaining tasks

  • Finish work on wireframes, seek feedback
  • Migrate existing content to new site
  • Create/rewrite content for redeveloped site
  • Integrate PMR2 into new site
  • Create templates

Creating a skeletal dev site

  • We can't just put up the new site with PMR1 because PMR1 can not easily be migrated to Plone 3, so we will have to build the new site around PMR2 and treat it as something of a black box
  • Gareth and Tommy talked about creating a skeletal development site with a structure based on the information architecture we have created
  • Tommy has a buildout which can be used on the ABI svn
  • We will be able to populate that site with content and use some of Plone's CMS workflows

Action item - Tommy and Gareth to start working on putting up a Plone 3 dev site

Content write/rewrite

Need to write/rewrite:
  • Tutorials
  • FAQ
  • Roadmaps
  • Curation info (curation system needs to be sorted - see https://tracker.physiomeproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87)
  • Modelling best practice guides
  • Getting started section
  • CellML overview
  • and much much more

'Getting started' section is critical

  • Will draw on other content but should essentially comprise a short, discrete lesson:
  • What is CellML?
  • Why and for what is it useful?
  • Download a model
  • Download a tool
  • Do something with the model (simulation, minor editing)

Workflows for writing / assembling / sourcing / editing content:

  • Gareth suggested Plone 3 might have some useful workflows we can use to write, assemble, source and edit content
  • James suggested that Catherine, Dougal and himself could work as an editorial panel, critiquing each other's content and working together to edit content sourced from community members

Action item - we don't have much time, so we need to get started on the content ASAP

Also, we need to decide what photos / shots we want of people so we can get Michael Backhaus to help us out.
