ABI CellML Meeting Minutes, 1st December 2010

Present: Dougal Cowan, Mona Zhu, Amy You, Lukas Endler, Andrew Miller, Poul Nielsen

Apologies: Randall Britten, David "Andre" Nickerson

Last week's action items:

0) Poul to look into possibility of projects for software engineering students (past AA).

  • Poul has talked to someone in software engineering, and this seems like it could go ahead. Projects would have to be finalized by the end of January. Ideas for projects can be discussed at these meetings.

1) Randall to get in touch with Alan to discuss the TeLICeMS service and text input in OpenCell.

  • Unknown.

This week's agenda:

1) CellML API - update
Progress:

  • Andrew: working on TeLICeMS, specifically the reverse direction (CellML to TeLICeMS). Still needs support for mathematics.

Discussion:

  • There was a discussion about what TeLICeMS provides, and what it is for.
  • Lukas: for many modelling tasks, a text input format is the most powerful and convenient way to work.

2) CellML core specs - update

Progress:

  • Andrew: continued coding the Rice 2008 model in ModML. Discovered the source of numerical errors was from an error in the paper which had been fixed in the CellML model in the repository. The model is now working but not quite matching the CellML model's output.

Discussion:

  • Poul: FieldML discussions are centering around use of a functional language description, and Andrew could participate in these discussions. FieldML clearly needs features that a functional language would be able to provide.

3) Repository contributions - update

Progress:

  • Mona: working on 1.1 models, initially on creating the structure diagrams which will go into the repository.
  • Dougal: exposed the Goldbeter et al. 2007 and Conradie et al. 2010 models.
